Who We Are

Joubert Singers is a non-auditioned community choir based in Hunters Hill, Sydney.  Our members come from the local area and surrounding suburbs but also further a field from North Shore and Inner West suburbs.

Established in 1994, the choir of approximately 40 singers still includes founding members and the rapport amongst the choir contributes greatly to the success of our performances.  During this time, Joubert Singers has been directed by a number of professional conductors including Mark Fisher, Greg Platt, Robert Hughes and Tim Chung.  Our current  Artistic Director is Rachelle Elliott.

Joubert Singers take their name from the brothers, Didier and Jules Joubert, who were early French settlers in the district. The Joubert brothers played a significant role in the development of Hunters Hill, building a number of the early houses in the area.

In addition to the annual concert series presented by Joubert Singers, the choir participates in other performances and events.

Some of the performance highlights include:

2006
-  a solo selection at the Sydney Opera House as part of the international ‘Festival of Voices’

2007
- singing on the sound track for the Academy Award-winning animated film ‘Happy Feet’
